Can you guess who this famous person is?

Azimuth

When I was a young man I loved to go on adventures.  I always wanted to be an army officer for the King of England. He let me be a colonel in his militia because I was a good scout and knew how to survey land too.  I fought the French Army for him and protected the Crown's land.  But, he never made me an officer in the regular army.

I owned a big farm and loved it dearly but my business kept me in the town of Alexandria, Va. most of the time.  There I joined the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department and helped to protect the citizens of my neighborhood from fire.  The fire service was always important to me.  Today, over 230 years later, I am still remembered by that fire department.  They still have one of the gifts that I bought for them back on 1774.  Many of our modern firefighters remember me too.

As the years went by I became a general in the Continental Army and fought for liberty and independence from England.  After the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the drafting of the United States Constitution I became the president of the United States of America.
