United States Employer Consumer Self Insurance Fund of Florida ("USEC") was a workers compensation self insurance fund that issued policies in Florida. On May 16, 1995, the company was placed into liquidation.

The First Interim Report on Claims was filed with the Second Judicial Circuit Court in and for Leon County, Florida (“Court”) in the estate of USEC. The Court issued an order approving the report on May 10, 2007. Notices were mailed to 1,607 claimants who filed a proof of claim in the USEC estate. The notice informed them of the Receiver’s recommendations concerning the classification and amount of their claim, along with instructions on how to proceed if a claimant objected to the recommendations. Objections were required to be filed by the claimant, in writing, with both the Court and the Receiver and postmarked by June 25, 2007. Objections filed after that date were not considered.

On April 1, 2009, the Receiver filed a motion with the Court for approval of the Final Claims Report, Claims Distribution Report, Distribution Accounting and for an order authorizing a distribution. On April 1, 2009, the Court issued an order granting approval for the Receiver to mail distribution checks representing 100% of the recommended and adjudicated amount to claimants in Class 1 and 95.4241% of the recommended and adjudicated amount to claimants in Class 2. As a result of the order, 25 claimants were approved to receive a distribution check. On June 4, 2009, the distribution checks were mailed.

On January 4, 2010, the Court issued an Order that discharged the Florida Department of Financial Services of its duties as Receiver of USEC effective December 31, 2009.

Pursuant to the Discharge Order, all undelivered distributions were sent to the Department of Financial Services, Bureau of Unclaimed Property.  The Bureau of Unclaimed Property may be reached at:
