What is the Florida Health Maintenance Organization Consumer Assistance Plan?
The Florida Health Maintenance Organization Consumer Assistance Plan ("FLHMOCAP") protects Floridians by assuring payment for services under covered subscriber contracts from the date of the insolvency for up to six additional months, subject to statutory limitations. In addition, the FLHMOCAP works with the Department of Financial Services to help former subscribers of the insolvent HMO find health care coverage on an ongoing basis. Its purpose is to secure replacement health insurance coverage for subscribers of an insolvent HMO, in accordance with the provisions of Part IV, Chapter 631, Florida Statues.
