Premium Refund (“Unearned”) Information – Senior Citizens Mutual Insurance Company
I am owed a refund for return of unearned premium. When am I getting my premium refund?
Unearned premium refunds were mailed in January 2006. If you did not receive a premium refund and
feel you are due a refund, you should contact the Receiver.
How do I file a claim for my $100 deductible or return premium claim of $100 or less?
In order to file a claim for your $100 deductible (or refund claim of $100 or
less), you must submit a proof of claim form to the Receiver. The Receiver
mailed out proof of claim forms to all known claimants on December 27, 2005.
If you have not received a proof of claim form and have a claim you would like
considered, please make a request by completing the "Contact
Us" form. For more information on the proof of claim process, click
here.
When is the deadline for filing a proof-of-claim?
All claims against the estate of Senior Citizens must be filed by June 2, 2006 to be considered timely filed.
What if my proof of claim form is filed after the June 2, 2006 filing deadline?
Any proof of claim form postmarked after June 2, 2006 will be processed as “late-filed”. “Late-filed” claims are assigned a lower payment priority.
If I believe my proof-of-claim should be considered timely filed, what should I do?
If you believe that your proof of claim form should be considered timely-filed, you may submit supporting documentation to us with your request for the Receiver to accept your proof of claim form as timely-filed. With appropriate supporting documentation, Chapter 631, Florida Statutes gives you the right to petition the receivership court (Second Judicial Circuit, Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, case number
2005-1069) to accept your claim as timely-filed.
When will I receive payment of my $100 deductible or return premium under $100 from the estate of
Senior Citizens?
The receivership process is lengthy and typically takes several years to complete. Your claim may be paid on a pro-rata basis, to be determined by available funds, after all legal and collection activity has ceased.
