Claims Payment Status – Nationwide Public Employees Trust ("NPET")

Miami-Dade County and the City of Cinco Bayou entered into funding arrangements with the Receiver for the purpose of having their employees’ claims paid. At this time over $4.9 million of those claims have been paid. All known claims for employees of the City of Cinco Bayou and Miami-Dade County have been paid.

On January 18, 2005, the Receiver mailed out proof of claim (“POC”) notices to potential claimants of the NPET estate. The Court has designated 11:59 PM on April 29, 2005 as the claims filing deadline. Former NPET subscribers whose claims were satisfied pursuant to funding arrangements between the Receiver and their employer were not mailed POC notices. The POC forms must be completed and returned prior to the claims filing deadline in order to pursue a claim against the NPET estate. Examples of claims against the estate are: a) claims for return premium and/or b) medical bills of employees of municipalities that did not contribute funds to the Receiver for payment of those bills. Claims received after the claims filing deadline of April 29, 2005 will be considered “late filed”. Please note that filing a claim against the estate of NPET does not guaranty full or partial payment of your claim.
