On January 16, 2003, the Second Interim Report on Claims was filed with the Court in the estate of Great Republic. On January 17, 2003, the Court issued an order approving the report. Notices were mailed to 2,823 Great Republic claimants who filed a proof of claim in the Great Republic estate. The notice informing them of the Receiver’s recommendations concerning the classification and amount of their claim, along with instructions on how to proceed if a claimant objects to the recommendations. Objections were required to be filed by the claimant, in writing, with both the Court and the Receiver and postmarked by March 14, 2003. Objections filed after that date were not considered.
On November 9, 2005, the Receiver filed a motion with the Court for approval of the Final Claims Report, the Final Distribution Report and approval to make a distribution to claimants in Classes 1 and 2. On November 16, 2005, an order was entered that granted approval for the Receiver to make a distribution. Under the terms of the order, Class 1 claimants received a 100% distribution and Class 2 claimants received a 25.0288% distribution of the adjudicated amounts of their claims. On December 9, 2005, the Receiver mailed 430 distribution checks. The majority of the checks represented a portion of the statutory deductible that was applied by the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association ("FIGA") in the prior settlement of claims within the Great Republic estate. No other distributions are expected in this estate.
On August 18, 2006, the Court issued an order that discharges the Florida Department of Financial Services of its duties as Receiver effective August 31, 2006.
