Return Premium Claimant Information - Vanguard Fire & Casualty Company
I am a Vanguard policyholder whose policy was cancelled when the company was placed into liquidation. When am I getting my
unearned premium refund?
The Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (“FIGA”) mailed out
unearned premium refund checks in May 2007. A $100
statutory deductible was taken from unearned premium refunds that were greater than $100. If your premium refund was less than $100,
you did not receive a refund check from FIGA.
All $100 statutory deductibles on unearned premium claims and unearned premium claims that are less than $100
are a claim against the estate of Vanguard. The Receiver has received court
approval to deem all unearned
premium claims as timely filed. This means that unearned premium claimants have a claim in the Vanguard estate without having to file a
proof of claim form or file electronically using ClaimNet. To view a copy of the
order approving the deem filing of your unearned premium claim, click

I have received an unearned premium refund check but I don't understand how the return premium was calculated. What
do I do?
Unearned premium calculations were made by Receiver using a formula to pro-rate your premium according to the number of
days that your policy was in force prior to it being cancelled April 25, 2007 due to the liquidation court order (or prior to April 25,
2007 if it was previously cancelled). The Receiver has created an on-line calculator so that Vanguard policyholders can input some basic
information from their policy in order to see how their premium refund was calculated. To utilize the on-line calculator, please

I am owed a unearned premium refund but have not received a check. What do I do?
Unearned premium refund checks have been processed and were mailed to all known policyholders that were owed
unearned premium which exceeded $100. If you feel you are owed a unearned premium refund check but did not received one or if you have other
questions about the status of your unearned premium claim, you may contact the Receiver using our "Contact
Us" form or by calling the Receiver at #850-413-3081
.
How do I file a claim for the $100 deductible or for a return premium claim that is $100 or less?
The Receiver has received court approval to deem unearned
premium claims as timely filed. This means
unearned premium claimants have a claim in the estate without having to file a proof of claim form or file electronically using
ClaimNet. To view a copy of the
order approving the deem filing of your unearned premium claim, click

When will I receive payment of my $100 deductible or return premium of $100 or less from the estate of Vanguard?
The receivership process is lengthy and typically takes several years to complete. Your claim may be
paid on a pro-rata basis, to be determined by available funds, after all legal and collection activity has ceased.
I have recently changed my name or mailing address and need to update the company’s records to make sure I receive any
information mailed to me. What do I do?
It is your responsibility to notify the Receiver, in writing, if you change your name or mailing address.

the Receiver, be sure to reference your policy number, claim number and/or Receiver's
