8-40 Health Insurance

Florida Statutes 626.829 defines a “HEALTH AGENT” is any person appointed as an agent by an insurer to solicit applications for or to negotiate and effectuate contract of health insurance, as such insurance is defined in s. 624.603.

Florida Statutes 624.603 defines “HEALTH INSURANCE” is defined as insurance against loss through sickness or accidental bodily injury.

Application Qualifications:

• Complete an online application for License and submit appropriate fees. Apply for license
• Be a natural person at least 18 years of age.
• Must not be a resident of the state of Florida.
• Be a United States citizen or legal alien who possesses a work authorization from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services.
• Not be an employee of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or state service office, as referred to in Section 626.833, Florida Statutes.
• At the time of application for license and throughout the existence of the Florida non-resident license, hold a license as a resident health agent license in the state of residence.

Special Note

• Examination not required.
• Can only solicit the specific lines of authority held in resident state. If the individual physically transacts insurance in this state, the insurance company must appoint the individual with a state appointment and a county appointment for each county the individual wishes to transact insurance in.
