Fingerprinting Information

Fingerprint/criminal history results are valid for only ONE (1) YEAR. This means that if an applicant applies for another type/class during this ONE (1) YEAR period, he/she will NOT be required to file another set of fingerprints unless specifically requested by the Department to do so.

IMPORTANT: We do not share fingerprint results with other agencies (i.e. the Department of Business & Professional Regulation or the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services), or other states. We do not accept fingerprint results from other vendors or other states.

NOTE: The Department does not accept faxed court documents

All applicants:

Fingerprinting is a mandatory requirement for almost all of the licenses, registrations, and certifications we issue. Please check the qualification page for the license or registration you are seeking to verify if your application requires fingerprinting.

You must be fingerprinted through our vendor, MorphoTrust USA, formerly L-1 Enrollment. You can register, find locations, and pay for fingerprinting by visiting www.L1enrollment.com/FLInsurance. The fingerprinting is $48.55, plus local Florida county sales tax.

Once you have submitted your fingerprints to MorphoTrust USA, your fingerprints are submitted electronically to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The results of your fingerprint-based criminal history check are then submitted electronically to Florida Department of Financial Services. MorphoTrust USA never has access to your fingerprint-based criminal history.

Once your application is complete, the Florida Department of Financial Services will notify you of your license or registration status by email and your MyProfile account.

Resident applicants:

After payment is made to MorphoTrust USA, you must submit your fingerprints electronically via LiveScan. A list of LiveScan locations will be presented to you following registering with MorphoTrust USA.

If your first fingerprint submission is returned as illegible, MorphoTrust USA will need you to provide another LiveScan submission at one of their sites at no additional charge if it is submitted within 90 days of the first submission.

Non-Florida Resident and Non-US applicants:

After payment is made to MorphoTrust USA, they will send you a fingerprinting packet. In this packet, you will find instructions and two (2) fingerprint cards with a pre-printed label generated by the information you provided when you registered with MorphoTrust USA.

Note: Fingerprints must be taken by a technician within a law enforcement agency or an entity approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services. Most law enforcement agencies and many security companies provide civil applicant fingerprinting services and are accepted by us.

If your first fingerprint submission is returned as illegible, MorphoTrust USA will use your second fingerprint card you submitted. This is important as to why you must submit both of the completed fingerprint cards to the address above.

Special Note: The Department of Financial Services no longer provides fingerprint cards. Applicants and entities must request cards from MorphoTrust USA. Please do not mail fingerprint cards to the Florida Department of Financial Services. Completed fingerprint cards should be mailed to the address above.
