What is the current status of my homeowners policy with Northern Capital?

Under Court Order, all policies not otherwise cancelled or terminated prior to 11:59:59 p.m. on May 30, 2010, are cancelled as of that time and date.

You should immediately contact your insurance agent to discuss other insurance options. The Receiver has mailed notices to policyholders regarding Northern Capital's receivership and the May 30, 2010 cancellation of policies. This is the only notice of cancellation sent to policyholders by the Receiver.

Can I purchase a new insurance policy from Northern Capital?

No. Northern Capital is no longer writing new business.

What if I am due a premium refund by Northern Capital?

To assist Northern Capital’s policyholders in having funds available to obtain replacement insurance coverage, the Receiver is working with FIGA to return the unearned portion of policyholders’ premium already paid by the policyholders in advance of the May 30, 2010 cancellation date. A cancellation made prior to this date may delay receipt of your full refund.

If I have an installment payment that is due prior to the May 30, 2010 policy cancellation date and I have not yet cancelled my policy, should I make my payment?

Policyholders with installment plans should continue to pay premiums for any invoice with a due date on or prior to May 1, 2010. Any installment payment due after May 1, 2010 should not be submitted due to the pending mass cancellation date of May 30, 2010.

Can I endorse my policy to increase coverage at this time?

No. Since the company is no longer writing new or renewal business, it will not accept any endorsement requests which would increase Northern Capital’s potential liabilities.

How do I move my insurance coverage to another carrier?

All Northern Capital policyholders should contact their agent in order to obtain replacement insurance coverage with American Integrity Insurance Company or another insurance carrier prior to May 30, 2010.

Am I required to accept an offer of coverage from American Integrity Insurance Company?

No. You are not required to purchase coverage from this company. This is just one option that is being made available to assist Northern Capital policyholders with finding new coverage. You should contact your agent to review your current policy and to see what coverage is available in the market that best meets your needs.
