Note: The below questions and answers relate to Florida policyholders and policies issued in Florida. If you are a claimant in another state, please refer to the information posted within these FAQ’s and contact that state’s guaranty association for guidance on their claims handling processes.
Where should I report a new loss claim?
When a property and casualty company such as AequiCap goes into liquidation, the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association ("FIGA") steps in and handles the processing and payment of covered loss claims under commercial automobile policies. You may contact FIGA using the following information:
Florida Insurance Guaranty Association
P.O. Box 14249
Tallahassee, FL 32317
Phone: (800) 988-1450
Fax: (850) 523-1888
How much will be paid on my claim?
FIGA will pay covered claims up to policy coverage or up to a maximum of $300,000. All claims paid by FIGA are subject to a $100 statutory deductible. Claims for the $100 deductible and/or losses or claims in excess of $300,000 may be claims against the estate of AequiCap and may be submitted to the Receiver by filing a proof of claim form. The Receiver has not yet begun the proof of claim filing process. Once the proof of claim process begins, information will be posted to this website on how you can obtain a proof of claim form.
