Florida Statutes 626.015
(15) defines a “PERSONAL LINES AGENT” as a general
lines agent who is limited to transacting business
related to property and casualty insurance sold
to individuals and families for noncommercial
purposes.
Application Qualifications:

Complete an online
application for License and submit appropriate
fees.
Apply for license

Be a natural person
at least 18 years of age.

Be a resident
of the state of Florida.

Be a United States
citizen or legal alien who possesses a work
authorization from the United States Immigration
and Naturalization Services.

Be fingerprinted at one of the Department's
fingerprint sites.

If licensed in another
state within three years, provide a Letter
of Clearance.
State Examination
Qualifications
(Must
be completed within four years of application date):
-
Successfully completed
a 52 hour insurance course for personal
lines approved by the Department
(Find
Course); or
-
Successfully completed
a correspondence course AND have
three months of responsible insurance experience
approved by the Department. This course
is offered by the University of Florida

six months of responsible insurance duties
as a licensed AND appointed Customer
Representative or Limited Customer Representative
in property and casualty insurance AND
completing a 20 hour pre-licensing classroom

as a licensed AND appointed Service
Representative in property and casualty
insurance AND completing a 40 hour
pre-licensing classroom course

Exemptions for State Examination
An original letter from the American Institute
for Property and Liability Underwriters certifying
the licensee was awarded the Chartered Property
and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation
and has been engaged in business the last 4
years.
