INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM
DFS-11-2007
ISSUED
September 19, 2007
Department of Financial Services
Alex Sink, CFO

Reduced Applicant Fingerprint Fees

The purpose of this memorandum is to notify all insurance applicants of the fee change for submission of electronic fingerprints.

The Department of Financial Services has the authority to require a person to submit a full set of fingerprints to the Department along with the fee to have the fingerprints processed through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). The fingerprints are used to conduct a criminal background record check in accordance with Section 626.171 (4), Florida Statutes. The current fingerprint card-processing fee is $62.00. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently restructured its fees and reduced the fee it charges to process fingerprints from Florida.

Effective October 1, 2007 the total fingerprint fee for electronic fingerprint submissions will be $57.25. All fingerprint submissions made after this date will include the new reduced fee charge.
