Florida Statutes 626.321 (1) (a) defines a
“MOTOR VEHICLE PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND
MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN INSURANCE AGENT as a
general lines agent who is limited to
transact insurance against only the loss or
damage to any motor vehicle which is
designed for use upon a highway, including
trailers and semi trailers. The license
covers insurance against failure of an
original or replacement part to perform any
function for which it was designed.
Application Qualifications:
- Complete an online application for License
and submit appropriate fees.
Apply for license
- At the time of application for license
and throughout the existence of the Florida
non-resident license, hold a license as a
non-resident motor vehicle physical damage
and mechanical breakdown agent license in
the state of residence.
- Be a natural person at least 18 years of
age.
- Must not be a resident of the state of
Florida.
- Be a United States citizen or legal
alien who possesses a work authorization
from the United States Immigration and
Naturalization Services.
- Be fingerprinted on cards provided by
the Florida Department of Financial
Services. Two fingerprint cards are mailed
to the applicant.
Special Notes
- Can only solicit the specific lines of
authority held in resident state.
- Licensees cannot be licensed as an agent
or solicitor as to any other or additional
kind or class of insurance coverage except
the credit life and disability insurances.
